Bungaree’s unbeaten start to the Central Highlands Football League season continued with a 134-point win against Carngham Linton on Saturday.
The Demons jumped out of the blocks at home, booting seven goals in the first quarter while holding their opponents goalless.
Bungaree’s tight defence continued in the second quarter, with the Saints again unable to kick a major and the Demons taking a 70-point lead into half-time.
The Demons didn’t let up in the second half, and the margin could have been much bigger if it wasn’t for inaccurate kicking. The final score was 19.20 (134) to 4.6 (30).
Luke Mirtschin kicked five goals for the Demons. He was one of 10 players to get on the score sheet, with Joel Mahar best on ground.
Gordon also had a field day in front of the goals, recording a 132-point win against Newlyn, 30.16 (196) to 9.10 (64).
After an even first half, the Hawks exploded in the second, kicking 20.10 to their opponent’s two goals.
Steven Patterson was best on field, while Mick Nolan kicked eight goals.
Ballan also had an easy win, defeating Creswick by 56 points, 17.11 (113) to 9.3 (57). Coming off a 315-point win last week, Ballan was slow out of the blocks and trailed Creswick at quarter-time.
The Blues kept Creswick scoreless in the second quarter, while kicking three goals of their own. The third quarter separated the two teams, with Ballan kicking eight majors.
Zachary Peoples booted five goals and Benjamin Fenwick was best on ground.
Dunnstown got its first win of the season, defeating Skipton 11.9 (75) to 8.5 (53). Sam Cameron kicked three goals. Sam Jenkins continued his good form and was best on ground.
In other games, Buninyong defeated Daylesford by 45 points and Hepburn defeated Springbank, 16.15 (111) to 10.9 (69).
