CHFL: Ballan beaten in thriller despite Campbell Brown

The guest appearance of former AFL premiership player Campbell Brown in navy blue wasn’t enough to get Ballan its first Central Highlands Football League win of the year.

It was beaten by five points by Waubra. Both sides failed to score goals in the opening term in a game dominated by the defences.

The visitors proved better at those defensive duties, taking the victory by 8.15 (63) to 8.10 (58).

Brown didn’t feature among the day’s best players but held his own in the Ballan line-up.

Ballan will look to open its 2014 account in two weeks against Learmonth.
