GDCA: Bacchus Marsh in tight grand final fight

Bacchus Marsh and Woodend are in a tight tussle in the GDCA F-grade grand final, with runs coming at little more than one an over throughout the first two days’ play.

Bacchus won the toss and elected to bat, with a strong 45-run opening stand between Chris Griffiths (14) and Andrew Porter (30) giving it a promising start. Michael Porter (44) and Dave Maurer (22 not out) made crucial runs down the order, but it was slow going all day as Bacchus posted 147 in 82.4 overs.

In reply, Woodend ended Sunday on 4-76 off 61 overs, with Michael Porter backing up his good work with the bat by collecting two wickets. The grand final concludes this weekend.
