MELTON Phoenix’s unbeaten run in state league 5 west took it to the top of the ladder after a 2-1 win away to Lara on Saturday.
All the goals came in the second half as the Phoenix posted a fourth win from five games this season.
Melton’s 13 points puts it top by a point from Laverton Park (12) heading into this Saturday’s match against Altona North at MacPherson Park at 3pm.
Melton’s women won 3-0 in state league 3 west, Elise Muller scoring a double.
The win was Melton’s second of the season, its eight points good enough for fifth in the division.
