Big V: Melton can’t hold Warriors back

MELTON is still to break its Big V division 2 duck after the visiting Packenham Warriors won by nine points on Saturday.

The Warriors shot the lights out in the final quarter, 7 of 11 from the field and three of five from three-point range, to break open a close match and win 96-87.

The defeat leaves Melton zero from four heading into this weekend’s long road trip to Western Port Steelers (2-2).

Jeff Crowe scored 26 points for Melton while Martin Pietrykowski, Shane Moroney and Michael McCallum were other leading players.

Melton’s Youth League 2 team is flying, however, improving to four wins and one loss.
