Three youths have been charged following an armed robbery and assault of two boys at Melton on Thursday evening.
Police said a 10-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, both from Melton, were at a park on Reserve Road when they were approached by three other youths about 5.45pm.
It is alleged one of the three youths produced an edged weapon and made demands for the 14-year-old’s mobile phone. All three youths assaulted the 11-year-old and took his phone.
He was later taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police arrested a 14-year-old boy, 11-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, all from Melton, a short time later.
They have all since been charged with armed robbery, robbery and affray and bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
