A new street art project has launched in Rockbank.

Melton City Council, in partnership with Powercor and Woodlea, helped propel the Community Power Street Art project to showcase young artists’ work.

Four artists – Kenz Kritpan, Elizabeth Hooker, Blake Poole and Frosk – submitted winning designs for the project which had the theme of community power. They created pieces for Powercor substation boxes across the Woodlea property development.

Melton mayor Bob Turner said he was encouraged by the quality of the work.

“This is a fantastic initiative that provides a platform for artists to showcase their talents and creates vibrant and interesting spaces for locals to enjoy,” Cr Turner said.

“This initiative is a great example of what can be achieved when we focus on developing the City of Melton to be an attractive place to live, while building strong engagement in arts and culture.”

Artist Kenz Kritpan created an artwork representing the bond between people and nature, as he believes this plays an important role in building strong communities.

Woodlea community development manager, Chris Bracher said: “It is a pleasure to support the creativity budding and established artists using Woodlea estate as their canvas.”

“Transforming these substation boxes into a vibrant artwork will add to the liveability of this community space.”
