Melton will soon have a new learning and training hub, following the start of the next phase of construction of the new Melton Central Community Centre.
Following a sod turning ceremony last week, the construction phase of the multi-million dollar redevelopment will begin in earnest ahead of an expected completion in August 2020.
The $4.5 million purpose-built centre will be a hub for learning and training, employment pathways and health and wellbeing services such as migrant support and family violence support. Melton mayor Bob Turner said the centre would be an important addition to the community once completed.
“I’m excited to see this project begin and I look forward to this centre helping residents reach their potential and feel included and supported in their local community,” Cr Turner said.
“This new facility will bring together a number of services and introduce a range of new services to meet Melton’s diverse needs.”
The centre will have a particular focus on tailored services that will cater to Melton’s culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
The Melton Central Community Centre redevelopment is a partnership project funded with $2 million from the State Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund and a $2.5 million contribution from Council.
