Woodlea Estate is “bringing back the blooms”

A sea of 150,000 sunflowers have bloomed as part of a large-scale installation at Woodlea Estate.

In collaboration with Djerriwarrh Health Services, Edmund Rice Services Mt. Atkinson and We Love Aintree, the Blooming West initiative “aims to encourage local children and the broader community to design, plant, grow and harvest sunflower plots at home and within key local settings,” according to their website.

In December last year, 16 kilograms were planted on the 2800sqm site which have now fully sprouted and from above, the flowers surround the word ‘Woodlea’.
