The City of Melton has notified residents of roadworks occurring on a local street, that could cause delays for school drop offs and commuters heading into town for work.

A section of Exford Road, between Eynesbury Road and the bridge over the Werribee River, will undergo works from today for at least a month.

The roadworks are 850 metres away from Exford Primary School and will likely affect Eynesbury residents who need to leave the suburb.

The project is valued at more than $1 million and will entail a reconstruction of the road pavement, installation of new safety railings and lines, as well as reconstruction of crossovers at affected driveways.

Works will see the road closed overnight from 8pm for most of the period, with the section being reduced to a single lane for three and a half weeks.

According to the City of Melton, the road reconstruction will address the existing poor condition and ongoing deterioration of the road, providing improved safety for drivers.
