The chance to walk the walk for women’s safety is coming to Melton this Sunday.

Led by Women Making it Happen and supported by Djerriwarrh Health Services, the annual ‘Walk With Her’ event will take place in Hannah Watts Park.

Djerriwarrh chief executive Belinda Scott said the COVID-19 pandemic and associated restrictions have resulted in increased episodes of violence against women, but the community can can help change the story.

“Djerriwarrh Health Services acknowledges that violence in the workplace and in the community in all forms is unacceptable and should not be tolerated,” she said.

“We proudly support the Walk With Her event and invite you to join us in walking towards a safer, more respectful and equal community.”

A COVIDSafe event, the free Walk With Her event will feature a opportunities to hear from local women, walk together to demonstrate support for a safer community, and help prevent violence against women.

The event starts at 10.30am Sunday, March 21.
