Volunteers honoured

More than 200 Djerriwarrh Health Services volunteers were recognised last week, with a special lunch as part of Volunteers Week.

The volunteers met at Bacchus Marsh Golf Club to celebrate another strong year of volunteer service, including awarding several long service awards.

The presentations included one to Helen Pike, who has been volunteering with the health services for 40 years.

Djerriwarrh Health Services chief executive Belinda Scott said it was important to recognise the volunteers’ valuable work.

“We are extremely thankful and lucky to have such amazing volunteers at Djerriwarrh Health Services,” Ms Scott said.

“Whether is it providing transport to appointments, delivering meals on wheels, providing companionship, offering a welcoming face, raising funds or providing invaluable feedback, every volunteer makes a difference to the people they make contact with, and to our health service.”

Ms Scott said they were always looking for more volunteers.

“We’ve just celebrated over 780 years of service combined and over 31,278 hours. What an amazing effort,” she said.

“Djerriwarrh Health Services welcome anyone wanting to help out. If you would like to get involved please call 5367 2000 or email info@djhs.org.au.”
