Week Without Violence (17-21 October) is a global awareness raising week which encourages the community to imagine 7 days, 168 hours, 10,080 minutes, 604,080 seconds without violence against women.

Imagine seven days without violence against women …

That’s 168 hours; 10,080 minutes or 60,080 seconds – the amount of effort put in by Melton men, women and children to focus attention on Week without Violence.

Throughout the week, Djerriwarrh Health Services (DJHS) health promotions team worked with Melton Women Making it Happen to run T-shirt painting workshops at Melton train station.

The workshops were part of the Clothesline Project – a global movement that encourages women affected by violence to express their emotions by decorating a T-shirt which is then hung on a clothesline for everyone to see – a testament to the problem of violence against women.

“The T-shirt painting is designed to create and share positive messages, in an effort to highlight and, ultimately, eliminate all forms of violence,” a DJHS spokesman said.
