Victorian youth to lead government strategy

The state government is working to plan how to best support young people recover after the COVID-19 pandemic, listening to their experiences, needs and ideas as part of the process.

Victoria’s first ever Youth Strategy was launched this week, which will include young people in policy development, gaining better access to education and job opportunities, as well as supporting their mental and physical wellbeing.

The Youth Strategy initiative will be funded by more than $600 million from the state government.

It was development in consultation with 2000 young people, sector partners and community partners and will consist of 74 initiatives rolled out over a five year period.

Victorian Youth minister Ros Spence said the government was ensuring young people were empowered to address the issues that affected them.

“The Youth Strategy ensures that young people’s voices are heard at every level of government.”
