More of Melton’s little ones will soon swap the classroom walls for trees, parks and open skies as the popular Bush Kinder program is set to expand this year.
An additional 150 kindergartens across Victoria will introduce Bush Kinder programs next year, including several across the Melton community.
Locally, Happy Feet ELC, Kids World Kurunjang and Melton Early LEarning Centre are among the services set to offer the outdoor learning model.
Bush Kinder takes early education beyond the traditional indoor settings, giving children the chance to learn through supervised play in natural environments such as parks, bushland and beaches.
The approach aims to encourage children to climb, explore and discover, all while developing confidence, resilience and curiosity.
Melton MP Steve McGhie said the program would provide valuable opportunities for local families.
“I’m pleased to welcome Bush Kinder to Melton,” he said.
“Bush Kinder lets children learn with their whole bodies – exploring, imagining and growing outdoors is great for everyone.”
