Toddlers’ toys go as thieves strike again

Thieves have hit a Brookfield childcare centre four times in the past month.

In the latest robbery, a man broke into the Eclipse Child Care Centre on Melrose Drive on the night of Tuesday, July 14, and stole toys and play equipment.

Police said they believed the man used a Kia Carnival or similar vehicle to take the equipment away.

Detective Acting Sergeant Chris Jackman, of the Melton crime investigation unit, said he believed the centre was robbed regularly because it was relatively isolated.

“It’s been the subject of repeated thefts, usually fittings, including gas meters and gardening equipment,” he said.

“The centre has installed a CCTV and alarm system and is now locking away valuables at night.”

Anyone with information on any of the robberies is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on www.crimestoppersvic.com.au or 1800 333 000.

Meanwhile, burglars broke into the Sunbury School of Calisthenics at Plumpton Road, Diggers Rest, some time between Saturday, July 11, and Monday, July 13.

Police believe the same offenders tried to break into Diggers Rest Football Club’s storage room.
