Teenager struck by car on Western Freeway

A 14-year-old Melton boy was airlifted to The Alfred Hospital in a serious condition following an accident on the Western Freeway on Saturday night.

Police have been told a black Kia SUV was travelling west along the Western Freeway, Brookfield, when it struck the teenager between Coburns and Clarkes roads, about 11.05pm.

Police believe the teenager was part of a group of young males attempting to cross the freeway, when one of them was struck by a car in the outbound lanes.

The driver of the SUV, a 47-year-old Ballarat woman, and her young son, stopped to assist and were uninjured during the crash.

Police are appealing for witnesses, particularly the teenager’s friends, to come forward and contact police.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
