Teen charged after Taylors Hill carjacking

A 17-year-old boy has been charged after an alleged carjacking in Taylors Hill last night.

A 26-year-old woman was returning to her parked grey station wagon on Gourlay Road when she was approached by the boy at about 8.30pm on Wednesday, July 9.

It is alleged that he wore a balaclava, brandished a baseball bat, and made demands for the woman’s car keys before taking off in her vehicle.

The woman was not physically injured.

Police caught sight of vehicle a short time later in St Albans.

The alleged offender dumped the station wagon on Reaburn Avenue before police from Caroline Springs and a K9 unit moved in.

Police allege that the driver attempted to flee the scene and jump over a fence before he was arrested.

The 17-year-old boy was charged with aggravated carjacking and remanded to appear before a children’s court.
