A firearm allegedly stolen from a Sunbury property along with nunchucks and drugs were among a haul of items seized in a police raid last week.
Caulfield Divisional Response Unit investigators arrested a 32-year-old Aspendale man at his home just before 8am on
Wednesday.
Investigators found and seized two firearms, ammunition, a taser, extendable baton, nunchucks, cash, cocaine, cannabis and a white powder believed to be methylamphetamine.
One of the firearms is alleged to have been stolen during a burglary at a rural property at Sunbury in October, 2014.
The man appeared at Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court charged with drugs, weapons, firearms and dishonesty offences.
He was remanded in custody to appear again at a later date.
Meanwhile, Macedon Ranges detectives recently executed a search warrant at Harding Lane, Lancefield, supported by members from Kyneton and Romsey police and the dog squad, and recovered about $75,000 worth of stolen property.
Discovered in the June 26 raid were a number of stolen trailers, one valued at $16,000; farming equipment, including a harrower; a number of stolen motorbikes, one of which had been missing since March, 2015; building materials and industrial power tools; and a power generator.
A 43-year-old Lancefield man has been charged and bailed to appear at Castlemaine Magistrates Court on September 24.
Police said that some of the goods had been identified as stolen during burglaries in New Gisborne and Elphinstone, while other property recovered had come from thefts from construction sites and motor vehicles throughout the Macedon Ranges.
A police spokesman said residents need to be vigilant.
“Police are requesting that owners of sought-after property, particularly tools, mark them clearly with some form of identification to assist police in getting these items returned to the rightful owner,” he said.
“We are also asking the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to police.”
