The department of transport has announced major road project work is being conducted over the summer holiday period to take advantage of the warmer weather and quieter conditions on the transport network.
There will be significant changes in place on the West Gate Freeway, the Monash Freeway, Fitzsimons Lane and Mt Alexander Road throughout January and February.
The M80 Ring Road will have the following disruptions:
Ramp closure: The Altona-bound exit to the Princes Freeway Geelong-bound is closed until the end of February, as part of the West Gate Tunnel summer works. More information, including detour maps, available at Victoria’s Big Build.
Detour: Where possible, avoid the area and detour using Fitzgerald Road, or the Western Freeway, Robinsons Road and Palmers Road through Williams Landing.
Signed detours will direct drivers via Boundary and Little Boundary roads, Grieve Parade and Kororoit Creek Road, or Boundary and Fitzgerald roads.
