Students share, care

By Esther Lauaki

Bacchus Marsh students have bags full of compassion for women in need.

Bacchus Marsh Grammar year 12 students have filled handbags with sanitary items, personal hygiene products and everyday luxuries for homeless women and those at risk of or experiencing domestic violence.

They delivered the bags last week to the Share the Dignity Christmas appeal, #itsinthebag.

The appeal encourages people to fill a preloved handbag with items and a thoughtful note or Christmas card to spread some festive cheer.

Share the Dignity founder Rochelle Courtenay said the support was important in helping women across Australia.

“You have the power to make life better for a woman or girl experiencing homelessness or poverty this Christmas,” Ms Courtenay
said.

“When you donate sanitary products through the Share the Dignity campaign, you’re …giving a woman experiencing homelessness or financial crisis the essentials so she doesn’t need to choose between food and dignity.”
