Christ the Priest Catholic Primary School pupils put their best foot forward last week.

Pupils from the school finished a week of fundraising and awareness for cystic fibrosis with a Funky Feet Friday, with colourful socks and footwear the order of the day.

Learning diversity leader Shelly Stuart said the week had been an important one for the school community, which includes a student at the school living with the condition.

“Some of the kids have been really creative with what they wore on their feet on the day, so it’s great to see so many children get involved,” she said.

“This is our way of getting behind a great cause, and as a school we’re in a really great position to raise money and awareness about cystic fibrosis.

“Particularly when we have someone in our school community who is living with CF, this is a way we can be a support.”

The mother of the child who has cystic fibrosis said it was wonderful to see the support the school had given her child.

“Having CTP do a fundraiser for CF means so much to us as a family,” she said.

“Dealing with cystic fibrosis is a daily ritual and relentless. There is no escaping it. The stress and pressure affects the whole family, and simply coping with everyday life can be challenging at times.

“Raising awareness for CF is amazing, to us it means the more people know about CF the easier it will be to raise funds and awareness.”
