A series of streetscape upgrades across Melton’s High Street are being planned by the council, with residents invited to have their say on the proposals.
Planned for four locations across the street, the upgrades are aimed at creating welcoming spaces near existing food and retail outlets, where residents can spend time enjoying what the precinct has to offer, according to Melton.
The upgrades would involve the demolition of existing footpaths, followed by the construction of new paving, landscaping, and installation of street furniture.
Melton’s Town Centre has recently received other upgrades including a new playground, footpath improvements, street furniture, artworks, and activities.
According to council, the proposed new streetscape upgrades will enhance the amenity of the High Street retail precinct and encourage greater community use and the council has worked closely with local traders to shape the designs.
Mayor Steve Abboushi said the upgrades are “about creating vibrant, welcoming spaces where residents and visitors can relax and socialise and support our local businesses”.
“We’ve worked closely with the traders in High Street to develop the design of these upgrades, and now we want to hear from the wider community,” Cr Abboushi said.
“Your feedback will help us deliver a streetscape that reflects local needs and aspirations,” he said.
Feedback can be submitted until Monday 24 November.
