Station upgrades on track

More parking is now available at Bacchus Marsh station.

The new southern carpark, which was completed last week as part of the Ballarat Line Upgrade, features lighting and CCTV.

Melton MP Steve McGhie said passengers will have better access to the station with the reconfigured carpark providing improved vehicle and pedestrian access via nearby Parwan Road, adjacent to Mitchem Street.

“I’d like to thank passengers for their support while we’re undertaking construction on the station upgrade, and in particular for the past couple of weeks while we’ve occupied car parking spaces to complete the work,” Mr McGhie said.

“This carpark will go a long way to improving how people use the station. It will make it easier for people to get a park, catch the train and get to where they need to.”

The station’s northern carpark upgrade is expected to be completed in mid-November, providing passengers with a total of 100 additional parking spaces.

Bacchus Marsh passengers can also use the station’s new pedestrian overpass to get from the new carpark to the existing platform. Both ramps and stairs on the south side are also open.

Construction on the revamped station forecourt, as well as the stairs and two lifts for the overpass, and the station’s second platform are ongoing.

Once complete, the overpass, lifts and ramps will boost accessibility, making it easy and convenient for people to get around the station, including those with mobility aids and prams.

“The upgrades to Bacchus Marsh station are delivering the modern and accessible facilities this community deserves, which will serve locals for many years to come,” Mr McGhie said.

Redevelopment of the station is part of the half-a-billion-dollar Ballarat Line Upgrade, which will enable more frequent and reliable services for passengers along the line.

The project includes building a new station at Cobblebank, upgrades at Wendouree, Bacchus Marsh and Ballan, and a completely rebuilt Rockbank station, which reopened last month.
