Year 3 students from Melton Christian College dropped by Ingenia Gardens Retirement Village on December 6 to spread the Christmas cheer.

The kids delivered handmade Christmas cards and sang carols.

One child, Kiara gave a special prayer of blessing which she had written herself.

“Dear God, please keep your loving arms around our new friends,” she said.

The students enjoyed the miniature Christmas village with its working train and a surprise visit from Santa.

Another student, Aabha said she loved singing to the people.

“My heart felt melted with happiness and joy. It was the best making people feel joy,” she said.

Melton Christian College principal David Gleeson said in the urgency of western societies very old people and very young people can become invisible.

“We are so pleased that our Melton Christian College youngsters have had the beautiful opportunity to meet and befriend our local older Aussies,” he said.

Ingenia Gardens community manager Nada Mecanovic said it was so wonderful to have the school kids perform.

“Our residents at Ingenia Gardens Melton were so pleased and thoroughly enjoyed the performance and loved having the kids visit – it brightened our day,” she said.
