Shopping for a cause

Melton op-shoppers are getting fancy for charity.

A fashion show of pre-loved clothing followed by a high tea will be held this weekend at Evolve Church in Melton to raise money for local charities.

Once Loved Pre-loved Clothing Show organiser Rosemary Shaw said the event aimed to bring people together for a bit of “fun and fundraising”.

“It’s all second-hand clothing being modelled,” Ms Shaw said. “People get asked for money all the time and you have to come up with a fresh idea to make it a fun event.

“I’ve run garage sales and car boot sales in the past … People have only got so much money to spend.

“If everyone gives just a little bit, it could really help people.

“We have a lot of people who live in their cars and under bridges, and if you can give a little bit to the charities that help them – it’s money well spent.”

Ms Shaw said the food will be prepared by professional chefs who are donating their time.

The Once Loved Pre-loved Clothing show starts at 2pm. Entry is $10 and includes the high tea. Bookings for tables: 0425 792 888.
