Science student becomes the master

Kaylah will take over the reins from her science teachers next Thursday.

The Kurunjang Secondary College student will be teaching grade 5 and 6 pupils from local primary schools to “fight the good fight” for the environment.

Using science experiments, theatrical performances, songs and comedy, eight students will teach youngsters about environmental issues during this year’s Kids Teaching Kids Week.

The college’s environmental director, Lucy Cassar, said the day brought children together in the spirit of looking after the environment.

“Not only are the kids getting an education … they’re establishing their own footprint and connecting to their environment,” Dr Cassar said.

“They start to really notice what impact their behaviour has on the environment.”

Kids Teaching Kids Week runs from September 7 to 11.
