A doctor’s clinic will operate out of Kurunjang Secondary College one day a week to make it easier for students to access health services.

As part of the state government’s Doctors in Secondary Schools program, Dr Sonya Morrissey from Westcare Medical Centre will visit the school.

Under the Doctors in Secondary Schools program, GPs will visit 100 Victorian secondary schools for up to one day a week to provide medical advice and health care.

Dr Morrissey will be based at Kurunjang Secondary College every Wednesday between 10.30am and 2pm, with a nurse also available throughout the school day.

Students can book appointments with Dr Morrissey from this week, with walk-in appointments also available during recess and lunch.

Kurunjang Secondary College student support service leader Melanie Hayward said it was fantastic to have a doctor service at the school.

“Having the program on site will provide an opportunity for students to see a doctor and make access a lot easier,” she said.

Kurunjang Secondary College joins Melton Secondary College as the second Melton school to join the program.
