Johnanne, Taylor-Kate and Emily are strong, fierce and taking the world by storm.
The trio, from Melton schools, recently received Pierre de Coubertin Awards for their achievements in sport, academic excellence and volunteerism.
Eighteen-year-old Emily, who holds a second dan black belt in karate, told
Star Weekly she was thrilled to receive the prestigious award.
The Catholic Regional College student is juggling karate, coaching, year 12 studies and volunteering.
“I feel really honoured and privileged … that school was able to nominate me because they’ve already helped me so much … balancing school and karate,” she said.
Emily is ranked seventh in the world in karate for her age and weight group.
Johnanne, from Melton Secondary College, plays a range of sports, including rugby and netball.
Taylor-Kate, from Kurunjang Secondary College, has previously competed in state finals in athletics for discus and shotput and made it to the under-16 Rebels state rugby team.
The awards are named after Pierre de Coubertin, who is considered to be the father of the modern Olympic Games.
