A new master plan for the Rotary Park Precinct, that aimed to respond to a petition from residents, has been endorsed by Moorabool council.

A petition of 268 signatures, Save Rotary Park – Keep it Green, was received by council at a meeting in October 2022, following a draft master plan for Rotary Park that was released for community consultation in the April prior.

The petitioners objected to the proposed installation of public toilets, a new larger skate park, and the extension of the Andy Arnold Centre.

A focus of the petition was to retain green space at the park. The revised master plan has responded to the concerns raised in the petition.

A council document said the updated Rotary Park master plan has been “simplified and updated to reflect community sentiment and sector reform”.

“Included in the revised plan is an upgrade of the existing play space with the inclusion of additional play experiences for children, landscaping, and connections,” it said.

“Community members who participated in the engagement process and surrounding residents have been further engaged with the outcomes of the engagement process and next steps, which has received a positive response.”
