Rockbank’s NBN work gets rolling

Rockbank’s move into the National Broadband Network (NBN) digital age has begun.

Construction is gearing up to connect more than 300 homes and businesses to the network.

Crews are checking pits and pipes, laying the fibre backbone for the network and installing node cabinets throughout the area, with people expected to be able to make the switch from April next year.

Ebony Aitken, head of NBN local, said construction of the access network might mean residents and businesses experienced some disruption.

“We apologise for any inconvenience experienced while this important work is carried out,” Ms Aitken said.

“By April next year, many local residents and businesses will have access to fast broadband; something that has been desperately needed in regional and rural Australia for many years.”

Many properties in the region are already eligible to connect to the nbn through fixed wireless and the Sky Muster satellite service.

More than 6.2 million homes and business in Australia, and 1.4 million in Victoria are now able to connect to the network. Details: 1800 687 626 or
