Rockbank man charged for imitation firearm

A Rockbank man is among two people charged after an allegedly stolen car crashed into three parked vehicles in Wantirna South on Wednesday 3 December.

Police allege the 35-year-old Rockbank man was involved in an incident where a firearm was spotted inside a stolen white Holden Astra on Burwood Highway about 3.40pm.

The weapon, which was later identified as an imitation firearm, was reportedly pointed toward another motorist.

The Astra was then seen swerving erratically between lanes before entering a shopping centre carpark on Stud Road. Knox police responded quickly, arriving to find the allegedly stolen vehicle had crashed into three stationary cars.

It is alleged the two male occupants dumped the Holden and fled on foot, before officers moved in and arrested the pair and seized the imitation firearm.

The 35-year-old Rockbank man was charged with possession of an imitation firearm and bailed to appear at Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on 25 February.

A 28-year-old Cranbourne man was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and remanded to appear before Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 4 December.
