Riders revel in world-class track

After years of waiting, the Bacchus Marsh BMX club finally has a new home, and they’re wasting no time getting settled.
The new track at the Racecourse Recreation Reserve was officially unveiled last week, giving the club its own base for the first time and opening up the possibility of major events hitting the town.
Club president Les Stuart said the club had been dispersed for years, and having a world class track in their backyard would do wonders for their club.
“It’s been a long wait, and we’re all very excited about it,” Mr Stuart said.
“It’s been in the works since 2010, and our 100 members previously just trained in nearby suburbs or out of town, so it’s great to bring everyone together.
“The Moorabool Shire has been excellent in helping us get this facility, I can’t speak highly enough of their commitment, and they’ve done a great job in creating something of such a high standard.”
With a course designed for riders of all ages and skill levels, Mr Stuart said plans were now underway to bring some major events to the track in the near future.
“This means we can now hold large events, on a state and national level, which is very exciting,” he said.
“It’s one of the better tracks in Victoria, so we’ve been in discussions with the state body about having some large events.
“That will definitely be happening in the future, hopefully not too far down the track.”
