Moorabool’s motorists are being advised to plan ahead, with the Gordon Freeway overpass set to close for two days as part of essential asphalt renewal works by the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP).
The full closure will occur on dates scheduled between Monday 16 February and Monday 30 March, with exact dates yet to be confirmed. DTP says the community will be notified at least one week in advance via electronic variable message signs.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured onto surrounding council-managed roads, with drivers urged to follow all traffic control signage and allow extra travel time.
The works form part of the state’s broader 2025-26 road maintenance program, targeting high-traffic routes and key freight connections across the Grampiens region.
Moorabool’s Shire will also have rehabilitation works conducted on the Western Highway near Old Melbourne Road at Ballan, while resurfacing is planned for sections of the Geelong-Ballan Road at Durdidwarrah and Fiskville.
Resurfacing works are also scheduled for the Western Highway ramp from Moorabool Road in Gordon.
