Reserve’s renewed life

Arbour Boulevard Reserve is set to be transformed into a vibrant community park.

The Burnside Heights park is currently just an open space but is being upgraded into a community recreation space, complete with a playground with swings, a seesaw, slide, spinner, log steppers, and even musical instruments.

The upgrades will also add an adventure play area, an exercise station, a skate ramp, shelter, barbecue and picnic tables and new paths.

Melton mayor Bob Turner launched the works on the site recently, and said residents can look forward to an exciting recreation space right on their doorstep.

“An exciting outdoor space has been planned for this reserve and I can’t wait to see it complete,” Cr Turner said.

“Together, all the play and leisure elements will create an appealing area for residents in this area to get active and spend some time outside.

“I’m really proud that our partnership with the state government is continuing to provide attractive outdoor recreation facilities in neighbourhoods across the City of Melton.”

The $710,000 project is co-funded by Melton council and the state government’s Growing Suburbs Fund – each contributing $355,000.

Local MP Marlene Kairouz was also on hand to launch the upgrades and stressed the importance of keeping up with the demands of families in the area.

“Burnside Heights is the fastest growing suburb in the City of Melton, and it’s really important that we adapt to the new and different needs of those that live in this area,” Ms Kairouz said.

The revamped park is expected to be completed by mid-2020.
