A recipe book celebrating the food, families and heritage of Melton and Bacchus Marsh locals was launched during Harmony Day celebrations last week.

Djerriwarrh Health Services compiled Food Story a book of recipes and stories from people of cultural backgrounds including Aboriginal, Filipino, Bengali and Polynesian.

DJHS health promotion co-ordinator Lisha Constantino said the project celebrates the diversity and culture of Melton and Moorabool.

“I hope [the participants] felt a sense of pride seeing their stories and recipes come to life,” she said. “I also hope the book brings a little bit more understanding and appreciation for

people’s culture and the stories they come with.”

There are 300 copies of the recipe book available for free. Call 9361 9360.
