One hundred days out of the state election, Melton council launched a major public campaign today calling on political parties to “invest in the west” and build a public hospital.
The local community, council and health professionals say the municipality desperately needs a hospital to cope with the area’s burgeoning population.
Melton council has already identified “suitable” land – in the Toolern Precinct Structure Plan – and has amped up its calls for all political parties to commit to funding a hospital.
The community is being urged to get behind this campaign by writing to politicians, state candidates and ministers.
Postcards have been designed and will be presented to state Parliament next month by the mayor Bob Turner and council chief executive Kel Tori.
Those unable to sign a postcard are being urged to go online to buildmeltonhospital.com.au and add their electronic signatures and share their stories.
More to come.
