Pride events to take place in Melton

Pride Month is coming to Melton.

Seven events will take place the next three weeks to celebrate Pride Month, which runs for the entirety of June and commemorates the diversity of the LGBTIQA+ community, identities, and history.

A number of these events are run by Melton Rainbow Social, a community group dedicated to fostering connections and support within the LGBTIQA+ community, in partnership with Melton council.

Among the array of activities is ten-pin bowling at Xplosions Bar and Bowl on Sunday, June 16, a painting workshop on Wednesday, June 26, and a ‘Cuppa and Chat’ on the morning of Saturday, June 23.

Occurring at both the Melton Library and Learning Hub, on Saturday, June 8 , and Caroline Springs Library and Learning Hub, on June 36, are Pride Month Writing Workshop: Queer Spaces.

Melbourne-based queer speculative fiction author and editor Matt Richardson will help facilitate a workshop on writing queer voices in science fiction and fantasy.

The sessions aim to explore queer identities, and how they play out in writing, in a safe and celebratory space.

LGBTIQA+ members between ages 12 to 25 are encouraged to get involved with The Space, an initiative of Melton council’s young communities.
