A drab Melton street corner has been splashed with colour and fun.
Melton council and VicHealth have transformed the corner of Palmerston and McKenzie streets into a vibrant and bright play space for the community.
A pop-up park had been designed for the vacant land and will be launched on Thursday with much fanfare, including free children’s entertainment, Zumba demonstrations and giant games.
Melton mayor Sophie Ramsey said the pop-up park featured shipping containers used as outdoor rooms, hard-floor standing areas, moveable seating and a ping-pong table.
“The pop-up park is a great way to use a space to test designs, get feedback from people, and show what the Melton town centre can be like before formal construction begins on redevelopment,” Cr Ramsey said.
Young people of Melton will transform the ping-pong table into a public art piece while members of Melton library’s knitting group will yarn bomb parts of the park.
The launch will be on Thursday, September 24, from 10.30am-12.30pm. For more information, call 9747 7200.
