Police officer in hospital after vehicle ramming

A police officer is in hospital after being pinned against a car by a vehicle in Melton yesterday afternoon.

Police on patrol followed a vehicle without number plates to a driveway on Henry Street at about 1.30pm.

After parking behind the vehicle police attempted to speak to the driver of the car, when he reversed into the police car and then drove forward, pinning an officer against another parked vehicle

The vehicle then fled the scene.

The injured police officer was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are currently searching for the vehicle.

A female passenger from the vehicle was taken into custody at the scene but has since been released pending further inquiries.
