Police investigating hoon meets

A 16-year-old has been charged following two alleged hoon meets in Derrimut on Saturday night.

Police were called to a large gathering of vehicles in Fitzgerald Street just before 11pm.

All the vehicles dispersed upon police direction.

Shortly afterwards, police observed three motorbikes believed to have been linked to the event. The three riders allegedly fled from police, with one arrested a short time later.

A 16-year-old from Craigieburn was charged with two counts of evading police, two counts of unlicensed driving, two counts of an unregistered vehicle and one count of driving in a dangerous manner.

His bike was also impounded.

Police were called to a second gathering at Boundary Road about 2am, where about 100 people were gathered.

A number of people allegedly attempted to damage a police vehicle.

Police are investigating the incident and are seeking information or footage to help with the investigation.
