Police are investigating a suspicious fire that gutted an abandoned home in Melton’s west last night.
Firefighters were called to the Harkness Road property at 11.55pm on Monday, finding the house was engulfed in flames.
At least 15 CFA vehicles turned out to the blaze, which was contained and under control soon after midnight.
Melton police told Star Weekly that the cause of the fire was still unknown and would not speculate on whether it was an arson attack.
Fire investigators were at the scene this morning.
