Pleasant day for Probus

A grazing platter and white chocolate liqueur were some of the treats enjoyed by the Bacchus Marsh Ladies Probus Club during a recent winery outing, with the group welcoming new members.

Visiting St. Anne’s Winery in Myrniong last month, 37 ladies gathered to enjoy a wine tasting and a grazing platter lunch served with homemade damper.

Bacchus Marsh Ladies Probus Club president Glenys Homewood said it was a “really nice day.”

“They provided tea and coffee for us … it was lovely,” Ms Homewood said.

The group hosts an outing every third Thursday of the month and often invites guests for incursions – including a recent visit from a musician who kept members entertained with a morning of music.

“It’s a fun club. It really is a fun club. We have a meeting every first Thursday, with nvery interesting speakers. We also have monthly dinners at different restaurants … so we get around!” Ms Homewood said.

“I’ve only been in Bacchus Marsh [for] probably seven years, and I’ve made a lot of friends in the Probus Club. We’re having our 35th birthday this year – that’s in October – and we’ll have a special morning tea and probably a 35th birthday cake,” she said.

“In September, we’re taking a bus to the chocolate factory in Anglesea and having lunch in Torquay. We’re looking for new members all the time.”

The club’s regular Thursday meetings are held at Avenue Bowling Club in Bacchus Marsh.

Those who would like to enquire about joining can contact Ms Homewood on 0409 434 167.
