Telstra is upgrading its mobile base station servicing Exford, delivering improved 4G capacity and paving the way for future 5G services, but with temporary disruptions expected during the works.
The upgrades aim to enhance the overall mobile experience for customers in the area, however Telstra customers should expect interruptions while the upgrades take shape.
Telstra regional general manager Adrienne Holobowski said the investment reflected the growing demand for reliable connectivity in the regional area.
“As data use over our mobile network continues to grow, adding extra 4G capacity to our mobile site in the area will help deliver faster downloads, smoother streaming and less congestion for customers.”
The site will be switched off from 8am Tuesday 17 February until 5pm on Thursday 19 February, with further impacts expected between 8am and 5pm on Friday 20 February.
Ms Holobowski said Telstra would minimise disruption where possible.
“While disruption is required while the upgrade is underway, we’ll only be switching off the site when we need to,” she said.
Landline services, NBN, satellite internet and mobile coverage from other providers will not be affected. Calls to Triple Zero from Telstra mobiles will automatically connect via another available network if the site is offline.
Customers are encouraged to use Wi-Fi Calling during the outage, while businesses are advised to connect EFTPOS terminals to NBN or Wi-Fi to avoid delays.
