A Diggers Rest fashion designer’s whimsical creations took centre stage at the Fashion Awards Australia awards night earlier this month.
Three of Olivia Waters’ designs, including a nude tulle couture gown with detailed boddess, were among hundreds of outfits paraded down the catwalk at the Encore Event Centre in Hoppers Crossing.
Waters entered the long gown category for TAFE and open designers at the annual awards which featured 285 entries. Starting from a young age, Waters said that she would design gowns that she hoped to one day make.
She later turned her back on studying law to pursue her passion for fashion. “My designs are inspired by the vintage eras of the ’20s and ’50s,” she said.
