Development continues in the Parwan Employment Precinct with the addition of gas supply, in order to attract further industrial agribusiness to the area.

The Parwan City Gate Gas Connection Project was completed this month, funded by $2.7 million from the state government with additional funding provided by Moorabool Shire council and local farm L&G Meats.

The new connection will service the Parwan Employment Precinct as well as the wider Bacchus Marsh area.

The Parwan Employment Precinct project is an initiative from the Moorabool Shire Council and the Victorian Planning Authority to develop the area south of Bacchus Marsh into an agribusiness hub.

The plans to develop further infrastructure in Parwan serve the goal of attracting significant levels of new industrial and agricultural business investment to the region and capitalise on existing business in the area.

The project aims to help reduce the number of residents leaving the Shire for employment opportunities by potentially providing more than 1,500 jobs and will provide an estimated economic benefit of $186 million to the region.

Moorabool Shire council has stated it will continue to advocate for more funding for the Parwan Employment Precinct, with electricity connection still needed to complete the services on site.

Moorabool mayor Tom Sullivan said the council was “very pleased” to have the connection completed.

“Parwan Employment Precinct is a vital piece of land in our shire, in that it will boost economic and employment growth in our region,” Cr Sullivan said.

“We will be able to attract industrial business and agribusiness and create around 1500 new jobs, this is not possible without services to the precinct though.”

Regional development minister Harriet Shing said the new connection lead to a boost in Victoria’s agricultural industry.

“This new gas connection will enable more businesses to be established in the Parwan Employment Precinct, helping create more jobs and stimulate regional Victoria’s agriculture industry.”
