Police arrested two men in an allegedly stolen car in Melton on Saturday.
Police observed a Nissan Pulsar with obscured number plates travelling along Station Street about 5.45pm.
The car pulled into a service station and officers took the opportunity to intercept the vehicle as the driver got out to pump petrol.
Checks on the car revealed that it was stolen and the plates were false, police allege.
The driver, a 25-year-old man from Maddingley, was taken into custody along with the passenger.
Police searched the vehicle and allegedly located drugs, tools for theft and property suspected of being stolen.
The 25-year-old was charged with theft of motor vehicle, handle stolen goods, possess drug of dependence, possess weapon and other charges.
He was been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on Sunday.
His passenger was processed for outstanding warrants.
