Melton council will celebrate the opening of a new art exhibition by a local artist next week, with residents welcomed to join the event.
Elements of Hannah Watts is a new exhibition by local artist Christian Hansen that explores the many sides to Melton historic figure Hannah Watts.
Hansen is the current Melton Art and Culture’s artist in residence who examines local histories and cultural expressions through his work.
The free opening event will be held on the evening of Thursday July 28 at Melton Library, where attendees will be treated to a tour of the exhibition by art curators and have the chance to ask questions about the well-known local historic figure.
Hannah Watts was known as a nurse and midwife in the Melton community who established the first hospital, Lynch Cottage, where she assisted with many births.
