Noah dances in the rain

Noah Barlow is doing his bit to make dreams come true for youngsters like him.

The Bacchus Marsh seven-year-old was born with multiple disorders, some so rare they had no name, but two years ago doctors narrowed his diagnosis down to mitochondrial disease – a chronic condition with no treatment and no cure.

Noah was recently asked to design a pillowcase for Adairs to support the work of Make-A-Wish Australia which he has benefitted from throughout his treatment.

His design, launched last week, features a drawing of his favourite vegie patch.

All profits from the pillowcase sales will be donated to the Make-A-Wish foundation which grants the wishes of children aged three to 18 who are battling life-threatening illnesses.

Noah’s journey up until now has been harrowing.

He suffered five devastating stroke-like episodes at an early age which would leave him unable to walk, talk, breathe or see.

Each episode would cause more brain damage.

Treatment is ongoing but Noah’s mum Kat celebrates each milestone from the past two years, from completing another year at school to swimming on his own, via a Facebook page dedicated to Noah.

“The storms came and we played in the rain and he loved every moment,” she wrote of a recent and rare trip to the beach.

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.

“Today we did just that.”
