No carbon footprint at Melton West Primary School

Melton and Moorabool pupils will pop on their runners, tie their laces and walk to school next month.

As part of VicHealth’s Walk to School campaign, teachers across the state will be encouraging their students to skip, jump and hop to school.

And Melton West Primary School is really keen to take part. Sports teacher Deena Henaway says that for the past few months, the school has been encouraging its students to walk to school on the last Monday of each month. The pupils will assemble at Navan Park at 8.30 each morning during October before walking to school as a group.

“The kids get excited walking to school with their teachers,” Ms Henaway says. “It gets them out walking and gives them independence.”
